Esplanade’s 17th edition of Octoburst! was all about fun, friendship and imagination. Interactive performances from around the world and various workshops were organized to keep the children busy while experiencing the joy of the arts. It was definitely a weekend that encourages play and family fun at the Esplanade.
We were so excited when we received the invite from Esplanade to conduct 2 sessions at the annual event.
In the first session, ‘Fun with Percussion Instruments!’, the children got to enjoy a fun and interactive session with a variety of percussion instruments such as shakers, rhythm sticks, triangles, drums, xylophones and glockenspiels! Not only did the children learn about and played with these instruments, they also participated in rhythmic play in an instrument circle, where they experienced elements of music such as rhythmic beat, and developed listening and focusing skills. What a rare opportunity and a memorable experience to be able to create some sound in the library!
In our second session, ‘Let’s Sing, Play and Move’, the toddlers got to work with their parents as they sang, moved and played with simple percussion instruments and props. It was a fun-filled session as they experienced creative music and movement in this purposeful and, most importantly, enjoyable session for both the children and adults.
It was such a well-spent and meaningful Sunday with the families as we got to share what we do best with very supportive and enthusiastic crowd!
