PCF Sparkletots Preschool (North-East) Learning Day
Date: September 4, 2018
Venue: Punggol Community Centre
A full day workshop was designed and conducted for Nursery 2 teachers from PCF Sparkletots Preschool (North-East). We had more than 215 participants on that day and were so delighted to share with each one of them the materials and tools to bring into the classroom to assist in their music and movement activities. Using a kinaesthetic and exploratory approach to learning, everyone was mingling around new company and even got the opportunity to bond with their current colleagues. It was an overwhelming experience as we journeyed through the day with lots of singing, moving and laughter!
Fun and interactive songs that can be modified and enhance for every student to enjoy music and movement lesson … basic dynamic and structures of music. Ways to use non melodic musical instrument.
I have learnt the 10 principles of respect, how to overcome my personal boundary to be more present for the children for music and also learnt about the importance of thoroughly questioning the lesson plans to adapt it for my children’s learning.
The most important thing I learnt was the concept of creativity in teaching music and movement. I did not expect that there were so many variations of play and engagement that could be supported within a single song or tune, and that is definitely something I could work on within my classes – to invite children’s contributions in learning and exploring music and space together.
